"Standby" greyed out on shut down screed

I had to format my hard drive. Now, on the shut down screen, "standby" is
greyed out. Can someone tell me how to fix. Toshiba satellite laptop, XP
pro-sp2

Download and update the Video adapter drivers from the Manufacturer's web
site.

You need to install your devices drivers from the cd you received with your
laptop.
Most likely your graphics adaptor drivers or your modem drivers.
