spooler service stops repeatedly

Before posting my request for help, I consulted many posts dealing with
spooler issues, and it looks like mine is somewhat unique: I know how to
start the spooling service, which I have also set to automatic. But the
service stops constantly, and then of course there are no printers in the
printer folder (I can't even convert a Word document to pdf). Any advice will
be much appreciated.

I run Windows XP service pack II on a Fujitsu tablet pc T4020D. My printers
include: 4 network printers, a personal HP psc 1200 series printer, a pdf
converter, Macromedia flashpaper, Journal Note Writer, MS Document Image
Writer, and of course a fax. Thanks!

An expanded search in this discussion group, after I had posted my message,
brought me to a page that explains how to remove all printers and printer
drivers: http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm. I followed
all instructions, but my spooler's behavior hasn't changed: still stopping
repeatedly. I'm at a loss about what I can do next! Thank you.

The drivers not only include those on your Tablet PC but those installed
everywhere else..... and it's normally one of those that is corrupted.

See if it might be the one (whichever that is) that you use the most.

Thanks, Cari. I am not sure what you mean by drivers elsewhere than on my
tablet pc, but it seems that I was able to fix the problem by forcing the
print spooler service to "restart" continuously. It's probably not a good
solution if the problem that made the spooler stop is not fixed, but it works
so far!
Thank you again,
Catherine

When you ask your Tablet to print, it not only uses the drivers installed on
your PC but on the PC to which the printer is connected.

One of the drivers somewhere is corrupted.... and that's what is causing the
spooler to fail. But you'll need to find out exactly which driver it is
that is 'broken'.
