SP4 failure

W2kPRO-SP4 fails (many times).

1st error: "Unable to connect to Meta database". Click
OK is now the only choice.

2nd error is presented: "SP4iis" in dialog title bar.
Fatal error "Setup failed to remove ism.dll script
mappings. Service Pack Setup will abort"

MS now allows the installer to OK to remove sp4; or
cancel... presenting a BS paraphrased message "if you
cancel your PC may not operate correctly". I believed MS
in this case and clicked OK. The SP4 uninstall operated
ok and my PC seems fine.

Are there any MS Win2k experts out there who can help? Is
this a special case... or should I be concerned. My
business unit is planning an network automated SP4 rollout
on about 2500 endpoints. Thanks. DJ Paul.

FYI, IIS was uninstalled. SP4 installed error free. I
didn't feel safe in just bypassing the error... with the
hope that my box might still operate. Article to support:
