SP2 & Norton AntiVirus

I recently upgraded to Norton AV 2005. I had SP 2 already installed on the
computer. Now, when I first boot up my computer, it pauses on the Windows
start up screen for a very long time. Was I supposed to do something special
before/after installing the Norton product?
Thanks!

2004 did the same thing with me before SP2. I'd use AVG or NOD32. Neither are
resource and memory hogs.

Andee,

I have just the same experience. I have assumed that NAV 5 Autoprotect does
some sort of scan before it shows itself as enabled.

Some anonymous person on this thread referred to a thread, could they be
more explicit please?

What patch are you talking about? I checked Symantec website and didn't see
a patch for NAV 2005.

There is no patch for NAV2005. It already has the VMI update to make it
compatible with Windows Security Center. I would suspect that your boot
problem has nothing to do with NAV 2005, as it will not even initialize
until *AFTER* Windows has loaded. In other words, it does not alter or add
anything to the boot sequence until after Windows has loaded and has begun
polling handlers after the desktop is displayed.
