Norton Antivirus Problem

I recently installed Norton Internet Security 2007 and for the past
week it has been giving me problems. First of all, Norton takes up so
much system resources that it takes almost 10 minutes to completely
boot up. But for the past week after Norton has booted up it says
"Auto-Protect has experienced an unexpected error." The problem is
that Norton won't let me go on the internet after it has the Auto-
Protect error. Anyone know how I can fix this problem?

Best is to contact Symantec tech support. Actually, in my opinion, the best
is to remove NIS and choose from the good alternatives, which are much
lighter on resource needs, less problematic, and some of them are free.

If you want suggestions post back. Good luck.

I've lost track of the number of times I succumbed to the colorful display of
Norton products in Best Buy over the years, and threw out what I'd purchased
in less than a year. Norton Anti-Virus and Internet Security lack the "Built
for Windows" certification (at least the last time I checked), and I doubt if
they qualify. Just recently I tested Norton Anti-Virus 2007, then tried to
remove it, and it had buggered up the Windows Security Center so badly that I
had to reinstall the OS. Kaspersky Anti-Virus, by contrast, is certified by
Microsoft, and it places very little load on the OS. Remember to set up the
weekly skan, as it's not set up out of the box. The Kaspersky Anti-Virus is
so comprehensive that I didn't feel I wanted their Internet Security.
Kaspersky is pricey, but shop around on the Web and look at e-Bay.
