The Symantec support web site states that Norton AntiVirus 2003
is no longer supported. Perhaps you should consider upgrading
to their 2005 or 2006 version.

Better yet, get a decent anti virus. Almost anything will do except Norton
and McAfee.

There you go again, Carey, giving out bad advice that will cost the OP
MONEY. Are you rich or something?

And also AD Aware SE. Not every possible spyware program is detected by
ever anit-spyware utilites. You need to use a few in order to be rid of the
majority of the spywares.

Please be more specific in your statement. Symantec does not supply
"TECHNICAL" support nor "New" application engine updates for NAV2003
any more but continues to supply updated virus definitions to the 2003
NAV Engine which is the same definition array as used by all later
versions of NAV. At this time, Symantec does not envision ever
denying virus definition updates to any of their older version
application engines. Also, Symantec still offers and will continue to
offer, via live update, the "existing" 2003 engine updates that were
produced during the 2003 era for all those still installing and/or
reinstalling the 2003 engine.

For older and/or slower systems that are sensitive to Heavy Resource
Footprint applications (some call it Resource Hawgs), NAV 2003 is
still a viable option to virus protection and will enjoy continued
virus definition updates from Symantec into the foreseeable future.

Ed

Perhaps your subscription to Norton AntiVirus 2003 has expired.
When did you last renew your subscription with Symantec?

Same thing just happened to me. I finally just uninstalled and then
reinstalled - all is well now.

perhaps it's malware that is turning it off, not a virus. Suggest
scanning with Adaware SE and Spybot S&D to remove the problem.

I didn't see all the posts, but make sure when you run your scans
you are in SAFE mode -- stuff can (and does) hide itself from
scans in normal mode (found 2 viruses on the kids system that
NAV2003 could not find in normal mode, but found from safe
mode). Run both antivirus and malware scans (adaware etc).
