Antivirus Will Not UPDATE

K

KenP

XP Home and IE 8

I removed old Norton 360. Installed free Comodo AV as I have done on
numerous PC's, but this time would not update. I uninstalled Comodo AV and it
would still not update.

I uninstalled and installed AVG AV and it would not update. Then I installed
PC Tools AV and it would not update. I am convinced it is not AV but do not
have a clue as to what could be causing it, but assume it had something to do
to with uninstall of Norton 360 since it was updating. Firewall is off.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Try the Symantec Removal Tool:

It gets rid of the stuff left behind that interferes with other programs.

Hello Ken,

This link is to Symantec's Norton Removal Tool:
<http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039>

Run it at least two times, each time reboot after it has finished, before
you attempt to install your new anti-virus. Even Symantec's own tool
struggles to rid a computer of all Norton residue.
