hello all hope whoever is reading this,has patience'. No audio device after reinstalling xp.installed divers but told driver files missing. stigmatell driversv enabled but not functioning. Last msg: streamci.dll missing when loading IDT AUDIO CODECS. also downloaded AC'97 to no avail.

Try going to Device manager and locating the device in the list. Bring up the device properties and go to the details tab. From the drop down, select hardware ID. This will give you the HID of the device. Try using the PCI/VEN_XXXXX_XXXX information. Use as much of the HID as you can to see if you can find the proper drivers. This process could take a minute to find the correct software, but it should at least identify the hardware properly.

Also, do you know the motherboard manufacturer? Sounds like this is an on board audio device. Going to the motherboard manufacturer's website could yield you the proper drivers without a lot of searching.
