small browser window

all of a sudden my Internet Explorer 6 opens every browser
window small and I have to click the maximize button to
make the browser window big. What happened and how can i
reset it to normal???.... hopefully without resetting the
windows default and resetting my preferences.

Open such a link.
Don't use the maximize button.
Stretch the edges/corners so that the window fills the screen.
Close all other IE windows.
Close the stretched window.
