In case you meant set the size- right click the Recycle Bin
icon, select "Properties".

Also, you can right click the icon and select "Open" to see the
contents.

Open the Recycle Bin, select all files with Ctrl-A
look in the Details Pane

No, I mean the real size.
Also, you can right click the icon and select "Open" to see the
contents.

And then add up the single sizes with pen and paper. Good new Vista.

At the bottom... in the detail pane...

29 items selected
Size: 37.2 GB

Never. This is definitely not the sum of 29 items. It says somewhat with
maximum possible amount or so.
Add up the 29 sizes. I bet, it's not 37.2 GB.

Dave is correct... selecting Edit>Select All will show the number
of items selected and the total size of items selected.

Also, I told you to run Disk Cleanup, it will tell you how much
will be deleted from the recycle bin.... you don't have to
actually go through with the deletion, cancel out or uncheck
"Recycle Bin".

I admit what I have to admit: yes, I have detected the size which I was
looking for and I apologize for being stupid before. But besides that, I
can't believe that he had 37.2 GB in the recycle bin. Which is, however, not
relevant any more.

no problem..
I've deleted a bunch of recorded tv shows and football games.

My apology was too early.
The size is only shown when I mark the objects in the bin.
It is shown in the status line. Let's say, there are 4 objects.
After deletion of the objects the status line still says that there are 4
objects. It should show 0 objects now. This is one of the primitive
programming errors which I made 30 years ago when I started programming -
not to show the actual data on the screen.
