Recycle bin

I emptied my recycle bin as I wanted to delete a number of my favourites.
Now when ever I delete one of my favourite sites it doesn't go to the
recycle bin but is permanently deleted. Nothing shows up in my recycle bin
but they are gone. When I click delete it asks "are you sure you want to
permanently delete the file". I think it used to ask are you you sure you
want to move this file to the recycle bin. When I look at properties of my
recycle bin the box that says do not move files to recycle bin is not
clicked. There seems to be lots of room in my recycle bin.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Does this occur with any other type of file? Make a new Text Document on
your Desktop to test with. Or use the TEMP folder contents.

In RB Properties, put in a check on that item that asks about bypassing the
RB, then Apply, then uncheck it and click OK. See if that fixes it.

CORRECTION: You're right, I'm wrong! I forgot I was working in XP, so I
switched to Vista and you're right that URL shortcuts deleted from the
Favorites do not go to the RB, period. (Forgot to check URL shortcuts in
other locations.) They get permanently deleted or the don't get deleted.

This is a change from all previous versions of Windows and makes me wonder
what other file types don't have RB privileges in Vista.

So far I have only noticed this abnormality when deleting any URL. It does the same on my W2K3 but as you pointed out it does not on XP

Thanks everyone. I don't know what I was thinking. If I delete a document I
have created it does goes to the recycle bin. As Shawn points out it I
delete a Favourite by accessing it through the start menu it too will go to
the recycle bin.

Which, if you ask me, is an odd behavior. Gonna have to remember to
experiment as I get in front of other versions of Windows, earlier versions
of IE, etc.
