sign-in problem??

L

L.

Haven't signed-in my web site in several weeks.
have a new system, winxp(home), office 2k, Zone Alarm, running through
Charter cable connection.

Can not sign-in using FP2k.

Checked with ISP and they had me sign-in through FTP so they say it's on my
end. My username and passwords are ok.
Can sign in through IE 6.0 by FTP.

Example:
open IE 6.0
type ftp:www.wabashrealty.com (my site name)
Screen open asking for username and password.
Then IE reopens with all web folders on right side of screen and "folder
tasks" on left.
I copy a folder to desktop, open with IE, edit with FP save, and then copy
back to FTP screen.
This may not be best way to edit pages but at least it works.

In FP2k "file", "open web", type http://www.wabashrealty.com in Folder Name.
'Enter Network Password' screen open but will not accept user name and/or
password. The login screen keeps popping up. After clicking OK 3-4 times, a
screen stating "The folder 'http://www.wabashrealty.com' isn't
accessible-------".

(Hope I haven't made this too confussing)
any suggestions please,

T

First thing to do would be to check your Zone Alarm settings.

Tried all kinds of combinations.
Just left msg with ISP asking them to repair/reinstall extensions.

I've tried logging in on different systems and no go so I know it's not just
this one.

update, if anyone is still here.. :)

Can not log-in using FTP through FP.
Can log in (FTP) through IE6.0

If this helps.

Unless the server has the FP extensions installed and you open it via FP's http mode, you can not
open the live/remote site in FP, you can only publish to it via FP's FTP mode.

Thanks for the info.
I'll check with ISP to see if they have repaired/reinstalled
extensions(earlier suggestion).
I know they had the extensions installed as I have used FP to change site.
I just haven't been on it in several months and now can't get on at all
using FP.

Will try and find someone who uses FP and see if they can log-on. There may
be a problem on my system. I have recently loaded new AV program (AVG, got
rid of Norton) and also running Zone Alarm (shut it down and still no go),
so I'm at the end of my knowledge, which is very limited.

I have a copy of my web site on my system. When I made changes and tried to
publish(FTP), I get a "500 illegal command" error msg.

Does this help?

That is a FTP error from the server, you need to contact your web host.

again, thanks.

I FTP to site using IE(user name and password took), copied all folders to
new folder "new web page" on my system, made changes using FP, saved back to
new folder "new web page" and then copied/pasted all folders back to opened
FTP screen. Changes took ok. At least I got the changes made. :)

However if you have used any FP component / features that require the run-time extensions, those
will not work, as well as FP no longer has any idea of the content in your online site.

Once the ISP has repaired the extensions, do not use FTP to upload content.
