Front page sign on SLOW

R

RICHARD BROMBERG

I am using Frontpage 2000.
I usually update web paes by opening the page in Internet Explorer and then
clicking FILE / Edit with Microsoft Frontpage.

This is followed by a "Name and Password Required" screen (This operation
requires author permission xxxxx.com:80)

When I enter the name and password Front Page opens the site and I make some
changes and click FILE / SAVE and then exit FrontPage.

This time I entered the name and password in the "Name and Password
Required" screen but instead of FILE / SAVE I
clicked FILE / PUBLISH WEB and published the web to a folder on my C drive.

Now the page still opens properly in Internet Explorer, but when I try to
edit it by clicking FILE / Edit with Microsoft Frontpage, there is about a
ten minute delay before the "Name and Password Required" screen comes up.
In addition Front page now loads the page so I can edit it, it runs very
very slow, maybe 10 minutes to load a fifty line html file.

At first I thought Front Page was messed up on my computr, but I asked a
friend to edit the site with Front Page using his computer and he had the
same problem

Any Ideas would really be appreciated.

Thanks

When you published it to your HD, make sure you didn't name the location with .com, .org, .net, etc.
extension.
