ShutDown Problem

Hi All,

I am running Windows 2000 Service Pack 4. Whenever I shut
down my system, it crashes showing the blue screen with
DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE message.

On completing the memory dump, the system boots backs
normally.

Looks like my hard drive has a bad block.

Is there a way to fix this problem?

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

- Vinod

Older versions of Adaptec/Roxio, Norton Utils, Autosave and Quicken have
been known to cause this symptom. Adding to that, any driver that resists a
shut down request can cause this. Start the elimination process in the task
manager to see if a resident program driver is the culprit then if none is
noted, upgrade any older version products that are likely to cause the
failure.

Just interested, what makes you think you have a bad hard drive?
