shutdown and updates

Hi there

sometimes when I shutdown my xp computer it starts to install updates. This
is really annoying because it can take a real long time - maybe half an hour
or so. How do I avoid this? In the control panel under "automatic updates" I
have selected "download updates for me but let me choose when to install
them" - so when does xp actually give me that "choice"?

Just finish the shut down; the updates will restart when you
start the machine agian.
