shut down slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Hi Everyone
to cut a VERY long story short, after major problems with my computer i had
to restore it back to factory settings. Everything went ok and i now have SP2
on my computer.

my problem is when i shut down the "shutdown screen" takes about 5 minutes
to appear on my screen (after clicking on start and shutdown) and it use to
take about 15 secs. Also once the shutdown screen appears and click on
shutdown the computer then takes anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes to
shut down. Not good.

if anyone at all knows how i could fix this.
Im not sure if it has to do with sp2 or my new norton 2005 internet security
or a problem with xp home itself but its driving me insane.
Help would be more than appreciated.
