Shut down my PC

Hi,
I have problems shutting down my laptop since yesterday.
It restarts normally but when I try to shut him down it blocks.
I didn´t change nothing in my setups.
I have avast as antivirus.
My laptop is a HP Pavillon with an Athlon XP-M 2200+.
I have Windows XP SP2.

I don´t know how to solve this problem.
