Share PST file between different versions of outlook

I had posted this in another group, but got no responses, so I am trying
here.

My machine is currently dual boot WinXP Pro (D drive) /Win 2K Adv Server (C
drive).
I have Outlook 2k installed on both OS and am using the same pst file
(located on C drive) for both so which ever system I am running I have
access to all my email, appointments, etc.

From other posts in this group I see that it is not advisable to install
another version of Outlook (2k2 or 2k3) within the same OS.
If I install Outlook 2k2 or 2k3 on one of my OS, can I still share the pst
file between the 2 OS?

TIA for any help.

It is not even possible to run 2 versions of Outlook on the same OS

If you created the pst-file with Outlook 2002 or below or created a 97-2002
pst-file in Outlook 2003 you can read pst-file from within any Outlook
version

Roady,

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I understand that I can not run 2 versions of Outlook on the same OS.
You say that if the pst is created with earlier version of Outlook, I can
'read' it with either. What about writing to it?
Currently I have Outlook 2000 installed on both OS's and both use the same
pst file. That way I have full access (receive, send, etc. email,
appointments, reminders, etc.) to everything, no matter which system I am
running.
What I would like to do is leave Outlook 2000 (maybe upgrade to 2002) on
one OS (Windows XP Pro) and upgrade the other OS to Outlook 2003 yet still
use the same pst file (for full access) for both systems.
This came about because I have a client that has been running an Access 2000
app that uses automation to create emails via Outlook (code that I have been
using for years). They have upgraded to Access 2002 and Outlook 2003 and are
now getting errors. If I can't fix by getting more error info, than I would
need to run same setup here to track it down.

Yes, the filestructure is decided when creating the file. Additional writing
to it doesn't change this. You should be able to continue to work as you are
doing already.
