Setup Cannot Continue

Trying to install XP Pro upgrade on top of Win98SE. I get
the error message "Setup cannot continue. Contact
Microsoft Technical Support. Error 61CFF58h". Running the
upgrade advisor, I get an error 5FBFF58h.
Anyone know what these error codes mean, and how to I get
around them? They are not on the MS web sites, nor can I
get support because I can't install XP to get a PID to
even ask for support.

This article should get you through.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en- us;316639&FR=1&PA=1&SD=HSCH
.

Ron - tried everything in the Microsoft article a long
time ago - same results. Keep getting the same error # and
it won't let me install. Nothing special about my PC
anyway. Minimal programs running, 2 gig, 512 meg, gigabyte
MB, a pair of 60 gig hard drives. It's nuts that the
Microsoft Advisor won't even run - quits with the error
number, but leaves a txt file saying everything is o.k.
The next thing I'll try is to install it on another PC.

The error numbers were caused by the Nvidia Geforce2
MX/MX400 drivers when trying to install XP. I had to
uninstall the Nvidia drivers, which were the latest
version, and replace them with old win98se drivers. Then
XP was able to install. Case closed......
