errors 61AFF58h and 597FF58h

In trying to updgrade from Win98 to WinXP Home I received the following error "setup cannot continue contact technical support (61AFF58h)". In trying the upgrade advisor I also received the following "setup cannot continue contact technical support (597FF58h)". I'm on a Dell XPS B600r with lots of memory...

Any know what these may mean? Thanks.
