Send/recieve immediately disconnecting

I am a verizon yahoo subscriber, I have uninstalled trend antivirus, i am
running spysweeper, but closed it. I have my pop settings right, but keep
getting immediately disconnected from mail on my vista.
Does anyone know is this an ISp or windows mail issue?
I am on verizon dsl.

Verizon is a pretty reliable ISP, so I don't think this is an ISP
issue. Also, Trend Antivirus should not cause problems as long
as its email scanning function is turned off.

It is possible that your email account has become corrupted.
Delete it, restart Windows Mail, then re-create that account.

If that did not bring improvement, uninstall Spysweeper,
reboot, then repeat the above step.

If all else fails, upgrade to Windows Live Mail:
