Screen Goes Blank

I am running Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2. The problem that
is happening is whenever a program loads an update for example Windows Update
the screen goes blank with a white box in the top left corner. This does not
occur while the download of the update id happening, it actually happens
while the installation of that update happens. When the update has finished
installing the screen comes back.

It looks as if active system monitoring software is doing that, so try
turning off active monitors such as a virus scanner.

Thanks Eric,

The only problem is that the system wasn't doing this when the laptop was
running Windows XP Home Version with SP2. Nothing other than the software
upgrade has changed. Even when I originally started on Professional it
didn't happen and now suddenly the problem manifested.
