"Saving your settings"

Logging off a user's profile, I noticed the prompt "saving your settings"
sits for a long, long time. I checked a KB article which says that:

1. A workaround is to do "net stop spooler" in a command prompt before
logging off.

2. This bug was fixed in SP4.

I have already downloaded and installed SP4. Do I need to reapply it, or is
there another fix?

prior to SP4 the advise was to remove update 329170 but it is built into
SP4 now.

There appears to be a hotfix available from MS
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;814770

but you will have to telephone MS to order it.

plus

start > run > gpedit.msc > Computer Configuration> Administrative
Template >System > Logon > Maximum retries to unload and update user
profile ...
set enabled and to say 5 ... default if not configured is 60!!

the gpedit.msc fix does not resolve the event viewer error but stop the
slow shutdown.

Another workaround that can work is to do a
net stop spooler
before shutdown.

Hope that helps

Do you use Win VNC version 3.3.7? If so uninstall and use 3.3.6.

Ave it!
