runtime error

Hi I keep getting this error message.
Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library
Runtime Error
Program:c:\programfiles\microsoft office\office10\winword.exe
abnormal program termination

I believe I have microsoft word 2002 how do I fix this error in word and
also is there a free upgrade to a newer version of word that I can download?

You appear to have an add-in that is misbehaving. Remove the add-in.

You can download a trial of Office 2007, but when the trial expires you will
have to buy the program to continue using it.

There's several things in there how do I know which one is causing the
problem and how do I delete it?

As the error concerns Visual C++ it will not be a template add-in that is
causing the problem. Look for COM add-ins and uninstall any that you find.
Then reinstall them one by one until you find the one that is causing the
problem. Chances are that the add-in is for an earlier version of Word.
