I am attempting to produce a document on Microsoft Word XP. About 3/4 down
the page I receive the message " Runtime error program
C:\programfiles\Microsoft Office\Office 10\WINWORD.exe
abnormal program termination"\if I click on OK Word closes. How do I fix this.

My first thought would be "Get rid of Word XP." Replace it with Word 2003.
Word XP was horribly buggy :)

However: The precise wording of your error message gives me a clue.
"Runtime error in program..." is the wording of a VBA macro going astray.

A VBA macro should NOT, however, be attempting to load " Office
10\WINWORD.exe".

1) So the first thing I will ask you to do is update your virus scanner and
run a Full System Scan.

2) Then I will ask you to find a rename your Normal.dot file.

Quit Word (you must do that...) then Search your hard drive using Find from
the Start menu. There may be more than one, and we want to ensure that you
find them all. For each one you find, change its name (to anything you like
that you will remember, but it must NOT be "normal.dot").

3) Then go to Microsoft Office Update and make sure you have applied all
the latest patches for Word XP.

If you're lucky, these three steps will fix the problem. If not, get back
to us. When you do, we will need to be sure that you have done these three
steps before we can go further.

Hope this helps

A runtime error typically means there is an error in a third-party add-in
attempting to run. Depending on the exact error message you encountered,
here are two article that should help you find the add-in causing the error:
