Runtime error 53 on Shutdown

I am getting a very small windows dialogue box titled 'update' pop-up during
shutdown of my Windows XP system.

It says:

update
run time error 53


I've tried updating my windows, uninstalling/reinstalling McAfee and
cleaning up the registry, but it still continues to show up every time I
shutdown/reboot/

Can anyone help me diagnose/remove this error?
