go to control panel, system, devices, hardware manager> right click on
your display adapter then click update driver. or if you have the
original drivers for it then use those.

when your in device manager there is an item called display adapters,
it has a plus sign next to it, click it and it will show you your
display adapter, it could be called anything depending on what card you
have, but there should only be one, click on that and then click update
driver.

There are 2 icons that look like plugs, and i updated both. Nothing
happened. There was a icon of a Monitor, so i tried that, i updated it and it
said i need to restart so it can take effect, so i restarted and tried to
chaneg the resolution/colour but its still stuck at what it was before. Any
idea what to do?

It is really difficult to know just what you've "updated". Start by
installing the latest video drivers, but not the way you've done it (or
haven't done it - I can't tell).

Never get drivers from Windows Update. Get them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM computer
(HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific model
machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor. The older Aida32 is good for this, too.

You don't want the *monitor* - you want the *video* drivers. Do as I
suggested in my last post to you. Get the drivers as described and install
them.

Forget the monitor! Samsung is your monitor! I already told you how to
update your video drivers. If you really can't get this, then have a
knowledgeable friend or professional do it for you.

Again, very simply - if you have an OEM machine like a Dell, HP, Sony, etc.
go to their tech support website for your *specific* model computer.
Download the video drivers and install them.

If you don't have an OEM machine but instead have a generic computer you
need to find out what video hardware is in the machine. Use one of the free
system inventory programs I already gave you, or look in the paperwork, or
look under the Display category in Device Manager for the *name* of the
video card. Then go to the video card mftr.'s website and download the
drivers for your card and install them. If you have an ATI card, you're
going to go to ATI's website. If you have an Nvidia card, you're going to
go to Nvidia's website. Etc.

Hi MarkoPolo
Do as Malke says - Samsung do have drivers - I had one of their monitors
four years ago.
You do the GC first and then the monitor - both from manufacturers sites to
ensure they are current.
Does you GC have a Desktop Manager - icon on the system tray - you can also
set resolution/refresh rate/colour quality from there.

Have you done Start/Run/(type in dxdiag)/OK - wait for it to load then click
on Display - that should give all the info on your Graphics device.

You are having such difficulties with this that I really think you need to
take the machine to either a professional or a knowledgeable friend. I mean
a friend who really *is* knowledgeable and is not just saying they are.
Someone who can *see* your computer and knows what they are looking at and
for is going to be able to solve this in a few minutes.

If you still want help here, then post back with what brand computer you
have (and the model number if it is an OEM machine) or what kind of
computer. Tell us where you got it. If you bought it locally, look on the
paperwork that came with the machine. Only *you* can see this; we can't.

Malke said *forget* about the monitor! Stop leading the OP down the monitor
path. He needs to find out what video card he has and install the drivers.
This has *nothing* to do with the monitor.

I know and I am NOT leading him down the monitor path - I have asked him for
the GC details and told him where to find them, as you have, but from a
different location - I don't think the OP knows.
