screen resolutions cannot be adjusted

Recently, I loaded Windows XP onto my computer. The screen resolution and
colour quality cannot be adjusted. They are currently 640 by 480 pixels and
Lowest (4 bit). What can I do to adjust these settings? Do I need to download
or update Windows? Please help.

You will need to also install the correct driver for the video adapter.
You may get the correct one at the manufacturers web site.

Download and install the drivers for your video card to fix your
problem.
