REGISTRY_ERROR

My new start-up screen is blue with the words
REGISTRY_ERROR at the top. It tells me that an error has
been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent
damage to my computer.

It them dumps physical memory and locks up. The system is
a 2 month old DELL 2400 system. DELL hasn't been able to
help at all with this problem. No matter what i have tried
or do what they have suggested, I get this screen. I can
not in any way get the computer to boot up. Yes, I've
tried pressing all the different wats to boot into safe
mode (Locks up), recovery disks (still get the blue
screen), and reinstall (blue screen again. Any Ideas our
there?

This is a tough situation to address. First a couple of questions.
Had you installed any new program or added hardware just
before this started ? Since you don't have an XP CD-ROM
you cannot run the Recovery console. Are you able to access
the system's BIOS ?

Here is what I would try.
1. Unplug all peripherals (Printers, Scanners, External Drives)
2. Enter BIOS, search for an option named "Use Defaults"
Otherwise, you would need to disable virtually all peripherals
such as Com Ports, Parallel Ports, etc.
3. Try to boot the system to "Safe" mode
4. If successful, then click Start, Run, Chkdsk C: \R answer yes
to run at next system start.
5. Attempt a "Normal" boot.

Because this system is very new, you might not want to drive
yourself crazy working on it. For the amount of money you have
spent it might be best to return it to Dell.

Have I added new programs - No
Added new hardware - No
Use the recovery console - No (Get blue screen )
Boot to safe mode - No

The error message is:
Stop 0x00000051 (0x00000003, 0x00000003, 0x00000000,
0xE1780000)

Any Ideas. The people at DELL don't seem to read any
information sent about this and all I get back from them
are canned replies telling me to do the same thing the last
git told me to do (which didn't work).

I appreciate the info. But as this is XP (not 2000) and the
recovery option does not work, get the blue screen error
message - strike 1.

As there was no new hardware\software installed - strike 2.

Tried the last known good option, get the blue screen error
message - strike 3.

Am I out?

If this is a new Dell, call their tech support. I've had quite a few
clients with new Dells lately and the RAM is bad. Get Dell to give you
some of the tech support you paid for. Be persistent, and good luck.

Hi

Could, please, post the error number that occurs with the Blue Screen?
The following may help:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;282501 "How to
Troubleshoot a 'STOP 0x00000051 REGISTRY ERROR' Error Message"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;321771 "You
Receive a
'Stop 0x51 (REGISTRY ERROR)' Error Message"

Everyone,

Just got on with a client with this exact problem.
Strike 1,2,3 exactly the same...
Couldn't find any solution.. Also checked Hardware as follows :-

BIOS - OK, RAM - OK, HDD - OK, Motherboard - OK

The difference is, the Hardware is an HP Omnibook xe4400 with XP Pro SP1a
Tried re-install same error happens.
Can't get anywhere...

I will try putting the Hardware on another PC to see the data at least.
