Registry_Error

I've developed a registry error (while trying to
partition and format a new slave hard drive) and don't
know how to fix it. I can't boot in safe mode or
in "last good config" mode. I attempted use the recoery
console when booting from the Windows XP CD but that also
gave me the same blue screen. I even attempted to
refromat the C: partition by booting from the CD but that
too failed. What can I do? There must be a way to boot
up the computer without needing to draw any resources
(such as this damaged registry) from the hard drives so I
can then reformat the C: partition and start from
scratch. I'm confused as to why I get the blue screen
when I try this. The computer is new and has been
running without a hitch for 6 omnths. Any help out there
for a boggled mind?

P.S. the blue3 screen contains the following info:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut
down to prevent damage to your computer.
REGISTRY_ERROR
if this is the first time......
Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x00000051 (0x00000003, 0x00000003, 0x00000000,
0xE1237000)

You can always boot to a win9x floppy boot disk and use fdisk and format to
wipe the drive clean, then boot to the xp cd and reinstall xp. Using this
method, you will lose all information on the drive. You can get a win9x
floppy boot disk here: www.bootdisk.com

Search the MS KnowledgeBase for instruction on repairing a corrupted
registry.

I used the following post from an earlier registry error problem to fix
my computer. The link displayed leads to a manual procedure to copy
original registry settings to give you the ability to reboot, and then
copy current registry settings from your system restore area. I had the
same problem, not being able to get into the recovery console, forcing
me to move the hard drive to another XP computer as a slave drive to do
the initial file copies.

"I just fixed a Dell XP home system with the same problem. The problem
started when the user updated his system with "Windows Critical Updates"
.. Repair Console from XP Home CD blocked me at Administrator password. I
moved the hard disk to another XP system and followed the instructions
from the following link, just doing the edits on Drive D: not Drive C:

Good luck
