Microsoft Windows XP Registry_Error

Hello, I have recently had an error when trying to start
my computer. After the Windows XP loading screen a blue
screen comes up saying: A problem has been detected and
windows has been shut down prevent damage.

REGISTRY_ERROR

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error
screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears
again, follow these steps.

It then it says something to the effect of removing any
newly installed hardware or software...

Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x00000051(0x00000003,0x00000003, 0x00000000,
0xE18BF000)

I have try restarting windows in safe mode, last knows
configuration that worked, and all other modes and windows
still does not start.
I have not installed any new hardware or software and i
have had this computer for about 8 months

Go to
http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm
click on error 51 in the left panel. and follow up the leads there
(mostly on Win2000, but they should relate to XP too).

It would seem most likely that it is a corruption of one of the registry
files - in which case
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;307545
is a method for recovery in the last resort
