reboot problem

Microsoft 2000 professional (all the latest updates)
on a laptop is taking nearly 20 minutes to boot up.

Any ideas where to look for the reason?

Have a look at Eva's "login" post, posted here 8 hours ago.
 
What speed is your laptop?
Do a msconfig and do a diagonostic startup. see how fast that loads.
im thinking you have so many programs installed that are autostarting, which
is taking it a long time to startup.
Also you can help speed things up, by going to the bios and doing a quick
boot, there should be an option in the bios.
