My laptop keeps shutting off at random times. It has shut down on me like 40
times already. What is most likely the problem? Is it the power supply?

Check and adjust the settings in the "Power Options" control panel. If
that doesn't resolve the issue, you can easily check the power supply
yourself. While in the "Power Options" control panel, select "Always show
icon in taskbar" under the "Advanced" tab. Now watch that icon for a few
days to make sure the computer is showing the battery charging correctly, a
power supply attached, and so on. If you always see the battery indicator,
with no AC power ever shown (either charging the battery or displayed when
the battery is fully charged), the power supply may indeed be defective. If
everything appears normal, your problem exists elsewhere.
