Question about sysprep SP2 and copying of Administrator profile...

steve

Hi all,

I've been reading this article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/887816)
which states that the new version of sysprep that comes with SP2 causes the
Administrators profile to be copied over the Default User profile. However,
this article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319974) states that if you are
creating a default user profile (in the absence of sysprep) you must *not*
use the Administrator profile as "You will cause permissions issues".

Does sysprep SP2 cause any problems by using the Admin profile as a default
profile?

Thanks
steve

Steve,

If you're still tracking this: yes it does for us. Numerous items, such as
"Recent Documents" and "Administrator's Documents," are created in the
Default User that carry the Administrator's items with it. Also, the Hidden
Files are not hidden, which screws up some features desirable in our school
environment.

I don't know if the hotfix will work as desired.
