The new ISP has given a connection at 115000 Kbps and this has a connection
for a Serial port. When I use it in my desktop PC with WinXP it is able to
install the software and connect effectively. But when I try it in a Laptop
PC with WinXP, it does NOT recognise the Serial Port!
What could be the problem???
Thanking you

the serial port is more than likely being used by another device and
if so will not be seen. This is a big issue in laptops as it makes
connections to other devices next to impossible.

The problem being that the serial port is seen as a shared pci port.
This sharing can be a PCMIA slot or Installed wireless card or even
your mouse. You must go into the bios and change the IRQ settings in
most cases to fix the problem. In some xp machines it can actually be
changed through port settings in device manager.

With Thunderbird, you click View, Messages, All. OE works similarly.

To whom are you speaking? There is quite a lot wrong with your post
since you didn't quote any of the previous replies to the thread.

You are having difficulties because you are using the web interface to
these newsgroups; the clunkiest and most awkward way to use the groups.
Instead, set up a real newsreader (very easy to do). Here is
information about that:

Since you are using the web interface, you may not realize that this is
really a newsgroup. You will get far more out of this resource if you
learn to use a newsreader. There are many good newsreaders for Windows,
but you can use Outlook Express since you already have it. Here are
some links to information about newsgroups:
