IE 8 Etc

Capt K Ripendran

I have a Win XP SP3 with IE & OE 6. Do I have to upgrade first to IE 7 and
then only to IE 8? Actually, I am happy with what I have ( and am used to
it ) but my
fear is that in course of time I may not be able to access some sites as
they may require a IE 7 or IE 8 as the minimum?!

Thanking you

You should be able to move directly from IE-6 to IE-8. There are some
changes in the User Interface that will take a day or two of use to learn.
IE-8 is a removable feature so if it doesn't meet your needs you can
fall back to your previous version browser. Personally, I use Imaging so
if something doesn't pan out I can reload the previous image and not be
dependant on an uninstall routine(s) to work properly.

To me the most compelling reason to upgrade is the features you don't
see such as enhanced security. A computer is never a "Static" thing there
are always updates, upgrades and patches. Using older versions is fine,
but sooner or later most users should go ahead and upgrade.

I installed IE8 over IE6 on a Win XP SP3 machine.
There is no need to install IE7 first.
