PS2 Mouse Reinstall

My mouse was not working, freezing and being un responsive, so I uninstalled
the generic PS2/ mousewheel drivers which were installed when the mouse was
connected to the pc.

It has been working fine, but playing up only recently - other mice do not
work either, so therefore it must be the pc.

I uninstalled the drivers in Device Manager, intending to reinstall them
again, after a reboot. However, when I went to reinstall the drivers, the
mouse did not show up as an Unknown Device, and the 'Mouse and other pointing
devices' section was missing. Also, when going 'Control Panel' > 'Mouse' then
the 'Hardware' tab, the normal 'PS/2 Compatible Mouse' itme in the list is
not present.

The mouse is not recognised, but still recieves power - as it is an optical
mouse and the laser is on.

Can someone please advise me on how to reinstall the PS2 drivers for Windows
XP?

Thankyou.

Try running "add hardware" in control-panel.You might need to use the
"user locate" to bring up the mouse.
