Protection Fault error

Hello All,

Any ideas on the following error, i receive it at startup on an IBM thinkpad running Win2k professional and Norton AV.

UPDATER caused a General Protection Fault in module SYMCDE~1 at 0001:AA6D.
Choose close. UPDATER will close.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Was it originally working and then developed this
problem? For as non technical as it is I have done 3
things that have gotten me around things like this.
First, just do a defrag of the disk. Second, try changing
the Swap file size slightly and third just uninstall and
then reinstall the Norton AV. I have had that same issue
though and actually just defraging took care of it.

Thanks... actually, i'm in User support and the user with the laptop that has this problem is out of town so i'll try this when he gets back.
