Invalid page fault

Walter

When I used the yahoo messenger to simultaneously view the
video images of the other parties, a window popup opened
stating that YPAGER casused a general protection fault in
module GDI.EXE at 0001:0000287.
When I clicked to close. Another popup window occurred:
IEXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in module GDI at
0001:00002cb. When I clicked to igore, there was no effect
and I clicked to close, the popup window did not close but
occurred again and I have to clicked several times to
successfully close the popup window.

On another occasion, when I am using the MSN Messenger the
same problem occurred: MSNMSGR caused an invalid page
fault in module GDI.EXE at 0001:0000acb and I clicked
igore but no effect. I clicked to close and then another
popup appeared : IEXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in
module GDI.EXE at 0001:00002907.

Please help!!

I have checked the Registry as per the webpage you posted.
But I cound found the entries in relation to the
Trojan/Virus. Are there any other causes?

On interesting thing I encountered is that when I visited
the favourite websites, the content appearred was not the
website I wanted to visited but that of another website
that I had visited just before while the URL is that the
favourite website I orginally wanted to visit.

Any suggestions and help again?

Yes, I have he Adware 6.0 installed to my machine. When I
delete the Temporary Internet cache and shut down and
power off and then re-start the machine, the problem
disappear.

However, I could not solve the above mentioned problem
of "Invalid Page fault in module GDI.EXE at 0001:xxxxx"
that sometimes occurs when I use the Yahoo Messenger to
view the video image of the other party.

You may need new video drivers. Check the site for your video board
manufacturer. Meanwhile you can do the following:
1. Use the default mouse pointers.
2. Turn down your color depth. (Right click the desktop and choose
Properties | Appearance | Settings) Some people find that increasing color
depth helps.
3. Turn down your graphics hardware acceleration. (For Win 98, Start |
Settings | Control Panel | System | Performance | Graphics button) You will
see little, if any, performance degradation.
4. Turn off your desktop wallpaper.

If these make the problem go away you need new video drivers.

If you have an ATI video board, try adding these lines to System.ini
