Privacy: Recent documents. Stop this being recorded.

I have stopped the Recent Documents folder appearing in the Start
menu. But how can I stop the information being recorded in the
"Recent" folder for each user?

Similar privacy question for the "Run" menu. Can I prevent the list of
previous Runs appearing?

Hello Rob,

I am not sure if you can entirely disable the ability of Windows to record
the recently opened items, but you can definietly disable them form showing
up the way you did.

You can remove individual entries from the Run MRU by editing the registry
in the following location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU

Just select the string value and hit delete. As usual, you have to be
extremely careful while editing the registry as doing so incorrectly may
render your computer inoperable.

Enable the "NoRecentDocsHistory" policy setting. See:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=NoRecentDocsHistory

Note that you can automate this setting using the TweakUI PowerToy from Microsoft.

find the answers now by Googling.

I have TweakUI, but for some reason it didn't seem to do the trick.
