There may be some issue related to IE7, but I haven't seen it pinned down precisely.

Sue,

I think it's a widely-known issue that when using WordMail, the "To:,
From:" ,etc. headers will not print for drafts. One solution is to
print from the "Sent Items" folder (as you mentioned), or create a new
folder (I've named it "For Printing") and move your drafts there. If
you print from the main Outlook view with the "Reading Pane" turning on
and without opening the email, the headers will print out fine.

However, it seems that some people are talking about a totally separate
issue. For only some emails, the headers do not show when I print out
received emails or sent emails. I've tried turning WordMail on and
off, with no affect. Any ideas on why this is happening? I'm running
XP Pro 2002 SP2, Outlook 2003, and mainly use Firefox, although IE7 is
installed on my computer. Thanks for any input!

Sue,

I know this may not be the right place, but would you be able to notify us
when a fix is available? if not, where is the best place to check for this
specific update (without having to wade through hundreds of unsorted lists?)

many thanks again,

Just to let everyone know, I ended up contacting HP about my LaserJet 2600N
color laser printer regarding this issue. A weeks ago, I went out to the
Microsoft Update website and chose "CUSTOM". Under that option, I found a
HARDWARE update for my printer (this update would not normally be applied on
the "EXPRESS"). After running that update, my "missing headers in Outlook"
problem APPEARS to be resolved.

I would recommend you check this out. If there isn't a fix for your (HP?)
printer, you might want to contact your printer manufacturer to let them know
about this issue.

Good Luck!

I wonder if behind the scenes microsoft and HP are pointing fingers at each

Well considering the same thing happens if you try to print to any
printer, or even to PDF, I reckon the HP connection is a red herring
anyway. But it is taking way too long, particularly since it looks

Well I have just developed this problem after my bosses computer crashed and
I had to reintall everything. My own computer has nno problems but his has
had this problem for about three weeks. I hope it is resolved soon. It is
so frustrating, we are an accounting firm and like the law office having the
same problem we need that header to print without all these problems. If
anyone has any new suggestions please post them I have already tried all the
ones on here and the ones I could find on the website.

Perhaps the reason that microsoft are not fixing this urgently is because a
workaround exists: choose the option to view all emails as plain text
(instead of html) and the print is fine. problem is of course it looks WELL
NASTY in plain text.

looks like they just want us to buy office2007

Good Luck!

Sue,

I know this may not be the right place, but would you be able to notify us
when a fix is available? if not, where is the best place to check for this
specific update (without having to wade through hundreds of unsorted lists?)

many thanks again,

-M

Microsoft does not announce timetables for fixes.

Does anyone know when Microsoft is going to fix this problem? I did notice
that Sue mentioned that microsoft is aware of the problem. I was wondering
if anyone has heard anything from microsoft as to when they might be able to
get the problem solved. I find it really odd that this problem has been
going on for months without any permanent solution.

:

Ironically, in the case of one customer, it was because they had Microsoft
Update enabled that they got IE7 (and hence the problem) in the first place!

:

Microsoft is aware of the problem, but there is no fix yet. Your best bet is to enable Microsoft Update on your machine so you'll get all fixes automatically.

Sue - I wonder if you can tell me whether there is a fix available for this
IE7/2003 bug yet? Three customers have now reported the issue.

many thanks

Well considering the same thing happens if you try to print to any
printer, or even to PDF, I reckon the HP connection is a red herring
anyway. But it is taking way too long, particularly since it looks
like this problem was reported during the Public Beta... Ho hum.

Interesting that they acknowledge it and have put together a hotfix on
the quiet. But why make it so hard to get?

It seems no any harder to get than any other hotfix.

Some of them you just download. No phone call, no support charges,
just the fix (ma'am)...

You can also change a setting in Internet Explorer 7 to fix this
problem.

Open Internet Explorer
Go to Tools ... Internet Options ... Advanced
Scroll down to the Printing Section
Tick the box to Print background colours and images

Can anyone confirm this allows you to print in Outlook without all the
shrinking/fitting-to-page? I've removed IE7 from my system pending a
fix so I can't check myself...

Have you seen a fix for this problem yet?

Is there a way to download this update manually and install it? I looked at
the knowledge base article #kb931657 says there is a hot fix only avaialbe
for those contacting Microsoft. How can I obtain this hotfix? My
workstations are all up to date and they have the similiar issues in this
post.

Do what the article says: Call Microsoft to get it now or wait for the next IE service pack to get it later. There generally is not charge for hotfixes if you don't bring up other support issues during the call.

Contact Microsoft, like the article says.
