I have a hp deskjet890c that uses a parallel port. I use
this printer on window 98 anxd it worked find but I can't
get it to work on window xp. Can anyone help please

a) Go into the BIOS (check PC manual for how to do this, it varies from PC
to PC) and ensure that your LPT port is set for EPP.

b) After starting XP, right click on My Computer and select Properties.
From the Hardware tab, click on Device Manager and scroll down until you see
the line Ports (Com and LPT) . Double click to expand this entry.

Doubleclick on the LPT entry and then the tab marked Port Settings. Ensure
you have a check mark in the box for Enable Legacy Plug and Play Detection.
Click on OK and get back to the Desktop.

Now use the Add Printer Wizard and follow its instructions.
