printer port LPT3

i can no longer print a document from a program. it will print a test page
from the printer however will not print words or the main body of a document.
i have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and the only problem i find
is the printer port is stating that it isn't working properly.

any ideas????
 
Surely if you can print a test page then the port is working. Are you sure
you haven't run out of black ink.??
