Print spooler problems

Hi. I am running XP and have a new HP printer which installed and ran fine
until I did a windows update. Now it's as though I have no printer installed
at all. When I press "add a printer" I receive a message stating that "the
print spooler service is not running". No matter what, I cannot get into the
properties or anything. I saw a post telling me how to turn the spooler back
on, but it didn't work. I went into my record of errors and their causes and
found this:

The Print Spooler service depends on the LexBce Server service which failed
to start because of the following error: The service cannot be started,
either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated
with it.

Can anyone help me???

You need to uninstall the Lexmark software that used to be on the machine
using the Lexmark uninstall utility for the Lexmark (or Dell) device you
used to have. Here is additional useful information if the uninstall
utilities do not remove the dependencies
