print spooler notworking

I have inadvertantly deleted some system files. All printers are gone. On
attempt to install a printer, message "print spooler not running". When I try
to restart spooler, message Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist
or has been marked for deletion". Looking in the same places under services
on my other XP I see spooler dependencies of RPC and LexBce Server. I only
have RPC listed on the prblem computer. System is XP home upgraded from Me
(sony Viao). The upgrade disc does not have any recover options. ?help

Try running the System File Checker, it will replace missing and/or
corrupt system files. Have your XP disk handy for it may ask for it.
Start>Run>type SFC /SCANNOW (space between C and /)
If that does not correct the problems, you may need to do a Repair install
of XP.

Can you do a Windows XP Repair install from a windows XP upgrade disc (from
windows Me) This disc also came with a Vaio companion disc to enable the
upgrade from this Sony Vaio desktop with Me installed at the factory?

Yes, you should be able to. Remember that after the Repair Installation,
you will need to redownload and install any Updates and Service Packs.
