Preventing speech recognition from turning off

Has anyone been successful in finding a way to keep WSR from turning
off? Whenever a laptop computer is on battery power it turns off
instead of stopping to listen. This very frustrating to say the
least. I'm sure someone has found a way and hopefully they were share
it here!

1) right-click inside the black area of the Vista Speech
      rectangle thing in the top-center of your screen
(that rectangle is a half inch high by three inches wide)

That "rectangle thing" is called the Speech Bar.
