Presario F700 Over-Sensitive mousepad

A friend asked me to fix his Presario F700 which had Vista on it and
was locked up. I installed XP SP3 PRO on it just to see what problems
might arise because everything I read on the web says the F700 was
intended to be for Vista exclusively. All seems fine except the mouse
cursor and the 'finger' pad seem over sensitive. I swear it seems as
if it responds to my simply looking at the thing. I just can't seem
to hold the cursor steady in one place or move it to another without
it moving somewhere on the screen on its own.

Is there an XP control for this?

Thanks

Duke

You need the drivers for xp. Some information here:

I had a similar situation .. I thought the touchpad was worn out.. but it
turns out my non-original part laptop power adapter was causing the problem
... (thanks to 'Grinder' -
alt.comp.hardware)

I plugged in an original part and the touchpad worked fine again.

You can read the technical detail here:

"a touchpad may work properly with one PSU but be jerky or malfunction with
another "

Well, at least now I know to call the pad by its proper name, namely
'touchpad'. Thanks for that.

I have two PSUs by different manuf's - I see no difference in the
sensitivity of this touchpad. Further, I thought to try the laptop
with PSU disconnected, and running off its battery. I see no
difference in the sensitivity of the touchpad this way either.
Since it works well when I use a regular mouse, I may have to work
that way.

Thanks for the tip.
