I want to correct the path to the power-point viewer.

regedit root for .pps (edit string / value data is:
PowerPointViewer.Show.11

Do i have sys files un-hide -- Yes!!

If I try to open a .pps file from windows explore, it opems and run's
properly, it's when I try to open an attachment .pps file from OE6 that I
get the error.

How can I fix this??

In OE:
On the menu bar click Tools > Options > Security tab.
Uncheck " Do not allow attachments.......", click Apply > Ok.

If no joy, will the file execute if you save it to the desktop or anywhere else?

If that doesn't resolve the issue or saving it, how about letting us in on the
secretive unmentioned error.

Tried OE options, no joy!!

Yes, if I save the .pps file to HD and open it from there it will work fine,
it's opening from OE attachment that doesn't work like it once did.

It appears that you're using the PowerPoint viewer.

Click Start > Run, type in: control folder and press Enter.
Click the file types tab.
Scroll to the .pps extension.
Click the advanced button.
If Open isn't listed, click the New button and type Open in the Action input
text box.
In the "Application used to perform action" input text box type or copy/paste:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\PowerPoint Viewer\pptview.exe" "%1"

Change the path to the correct path where you have it installed if it is
different.
Click Ok > Ok > Apply > Ok.

This is because the utility would have automatically located the PPTViewer executable. Simply put a checkmark near ".PPS" and fix. Or, follow the manual instructions in that article.
