OE - Power Point attachment

..pps attachments won't open from within Outlook Express.
Under 'Folder Options'/ File Types, PPS is associated with the PP Viewer and
when clicking on a .pps file anywhere else on the machine it will open in the
viewer.
Receiving that same .pps in Thunderbird works as well. (The only reason I
went to TB was because of this problem and I would like to go back to OE).
How can I get OE to recognize the file association?
