Powerpoint 2003 adnormal quit on launch - need help

Hello, Just starting getting problem with MS powerpoint not being able to
launch. It opens the blank presentation in full screen mode, and then throws
an error. The error code above is what it says it is reporting.
I deinstalled Windows Office 2003 Pro, reinstalled, installed all update
patches, even went to WinXP SP3 plus patches and still only powerpoint will
not work. The rest of the office suite seems to work fine.

Any ideas how to fix would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for suggestions. A bit more troubleshooting shows the following.
When I install MS Office 2003 into a new installation of WinXP-SP2, MS
PowerPoint works fine. At this point, Powerpnt.exe is version 11.0.5529.0 and
that the kernel32.dll is version 5.1.2600.2180 dated 2/28/2006.

With Microsoft Automatic Updates turned on, I see that the problem now
occurs with powerpnt.exe verion 11.0.8307.0 and the kernel32.dll version
5.1.2600.5781. Do you know if MS does regression testing on these latest
versions to check for compatibility? If yes, why is only MS Powerpoint not
working.? The problem started this past Mon or Tue (May 11-12). I think there
was a MS Patch release this week.
